LGBTQ Studies Courses

A minor in LGBT Studies may be earned by successfully completing 18 semester hours. Nine of the 18 hours must be advanced hours (3000 level or higher) and the remaining three may be lower-level hours (2000 level or higher). The electives are chosen from an inventory of courses representing a variety of disciplines in the university curriculum

Required Courses:

  • WGST 3100* - LGBTQ Studies (taught in Fall only)
  • WGST 4100* - Feminist and Womanist Theories (taught in Spring only)

Four additional 3-hour courses approved for LGBT Studies Credit

All LGBT Studies students are encouraged to meet with the director of Women's and Gender Studies, Dr. Morrissey, and the CLASS advising staff in order to design an academic plan that best complements the major intersts of the student.

To find out more about the program, please email wmst@unt.edu. To sign up for the LGBT Studies minor, talk to your college advisor about being part of the program.

At this time, the LGBT Studies Curriculum Committee is restructuring and redesigning the way in which courses are approved for the minor. Below is a working list of current semester course offerings. Please check back regularly, as this list will change as courses are approved and added. Please contact wmst@unt.edu if you feel that there are any other courses that should be included.
