Michael Kimmel, leading scholar on masculinity, to speak at UNT on March 10th

The Women's & Gender Studies Program has invited Michael Kimmel, a leading researcher and writer on men and masculinity, to give a lecture based on his best-selling book Guyland: The Perilous World Where Boys Become Men on March 10th, 2015, at 7:00 pm in the Gateway Ballroom. Dr. Kimmel is Distinguished Professor of Sociology and Gender Studies at Stony Brook University where he directs the Center for the Study of Men and Masculinity. In his presentation, based on more than 400 interviews with American males between the ages of 16 and 26, Kimmel will offer insight into their belief systems, relationships, preferences, as well as possible sources of violent and dangerous behaviors. This event is co-sponsored by the Office of the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean of Students, the Multicultural Center, the College of Arts and Sciences, and the Department of Sociology.
