Dr. Ahluwalia, Associate Professor of History and Women's and Gender Studies at Northern Arizona University, is an expert on women's history and the history of sexuality in South Asia. Her first book, Reproductive Restraints Birth Control in India, 1877-1947 (Illinois, 2008) examines the role of both Indian activists and western influences on the politics of birth control in Colonial India. She is currently working on her book length project on the history of sexology in India, locating it within a larger global context, which is the basis of her upcoming talk.
