Dr. Ӧzlem Altıok to present her research in upcoming talks

WGST Senior Lecturer, Dr. Ӧzlem Altıok, will be traveling to Kansas and Maine this semester to present her research. On September 24, 2017, Dr. Altıok will be speaking at The Land Institute's Annual Prairie Festival in Salina, Kansas. She will discuss the cross-cultural reflections on the urban-rural divide and imaginations. Later in the month, Dr. Altıok will travel to the University of Southern Maine in Portland to deliver a public talk titled, "The Moral Terrain of Gender: Navigating Work, Family, and Religion in Istanbul," based on the book she is currently writing. While at USM, she will also speak to a graduate-level methods class about an article she is writing on the embodied process of producing knowledge about society as a "native outsider."
