Dr. Denise Baxter

Professor of Art History and Associate Dean Toulouse Graduate School

Dr. Denise Amy Baxter (she|her) is Professor of Art History in the College of Visual Arts and Design and Associate Dean for Professional Development in the Toulouse Graduate School. Professor Baxter holds the PhD in the History of Art and Architecture from UCSB, with a Women's Studies doctoral emphasis. Her research focuses on the development of the modern self as it was forged in eighteenth- through nineteenth-century France and Britain in relationship to visual and material culture, particularly the history of fashion and dress.

Research interests: Feminism, Globalization, Identity marginalization, urban change and migration
