Dr. Jacqueline Ryan Vickery

One significant question primarily drives Dr. Vickery's research, how can media contribute to the expansion of equitable opportunities for marginalized populations? Drawing from qualitative, feminist, and ethnographic methods, she examines the media practices and representations of youth, with a particular focus on informal learning, equity, and media literacy. She is the founder and facilitator of the Youth Media Lab, which facilitates queer and feminist media workshops for youth in foster care and youth living with mental illnesses.

Her research interests include: youth, digital media, feminist media studies, qualitative research, and media literacy.
